Every "Groundhog Day", hundreds of students, from Fenwick's two elementary schools, gather in Centennial Park near the den of Fenwick Flossie. While waiting for Flossie to rouse, two students from every grade, Junior Kindergarten to Grade Three, are awarded prizes for the Fenwick Flossie colouring contest. When the first stirrings are heard from the den, the students cheer loudly to wake Flossie up from her winter nap and make a weather forecast. It usually takes several attempts to rouse Flossie and have her emerge from her den, but when she finally appears she is greeted enthusiatically by all of those in attendance. After Flossie makes her prediction the children and teachers are treated to cookies and hot chocolate before returning to class.
FLOSSIE arrives early this year- Friday February 1,2008
